Trumpeter Patrick Broadwell has been a full time member of the Royal Hawaiian Band for 10 years and has 20 years of experience as a professional musician. Rick has performed with such luminaries as Ray Charles, Johnny Mathis, and Natalie Cole. As a trumpet player for Princess Cruises for many years, Patrick had the opportunity to travel the world and work with diverse groups of people. From 1996 through 1999 Rick was the music director of St. Elizabeths Episcopal Church in Honolulu. In Hawai‘i, Rick can be found leading his own jazz group Pacific Jazz Ensemble, playing for local shows and events, and can be heard on many local recordings. He studied music at Pasadena City College, Manhattan School of Music, and the University of Hawai‘i, and is a student of trumpet great Ollie Mitchell.
